How to set up Metamask

Metamask is an Ethereum wallet that bridges the gap between the user interferences for Ethereum (i.e. Mist, browser, DApp) and regular web (i.e. Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and other websites). MetaMask is mainly used as a plugin in the web browser. Let’s walk through the steps to install it on Google Chrome.

Step 1: Go to Chrome Web Store Extension Section.

Step 2: Search MetaMask

Step 3: Check the number of downloads to make sure that the legitimate MetaMask is being installed, as hackers might try to make clones of it.

Step 4: Click the Add to Chrome button.

Step 5: Once installation is complete this page will be displayed. Click on the Get Started button.

Step 6: This is the first time creating a wallet, so click the Create a Wallet button. If there is already a wallet, then import the already created one using the Import Wallet button.

Step 7: Click I Agree button to allow data to be collected to help improve MetaMask or else click the No Thanks button. The wallet can still be created even if the user will click on the No Thanks button.

Step 8: Create a password for your wallet. This password is to be entered every time the browser is launched and wants to use MetaMask. A new password needs to be created if chrome is uninstalled or if there is a switching of browsers. In that case, go through the Import Wallet button. This is because MetaMask stores the keys in the browser. Agree to Terms of Use.

Step 9: Click on the dark area which says Click here to reveal secret words to get your secret phrase.

Step 10: This is the most important step. Back up your secret phrase properly. Do not store your secret phrase on your computer. Please read everything on this screen until you understand it completely before proceeding. The secret phrase is the only way to access your wallet if you forget your password. Once done click the Next button.

Step 11: Click the buttons respective to the order of the words in your seed phrase. In other words, type the seed phrase using the button on the screen. If done correctly the Confirm button should turn blue.

Step 12: Click the Confirm button. Please follow the tips mentioned

Step 13: One can see the balance and copy the address of the account by clicking on the Account 1 area.

Step 14: One can access MetaMask in the browser by clicking the Foxface icon on the top right. If the Foxface icon is not visible, then click on the puzzle piece icon right next to it.

Steps to Withdraw/ Transfer Ethereum from Binance to MetaMask

You may need to safely deposit the Ether (ETH) purchased at Binance into the MetaMask wallet or you might want to send/ transfer your ETH into MetaMask in order to buy Ethereum-based NFTs in the marketplace.

Step 1: Go to the Binance website

You must already have an account. Just type your email address or mobile number and password and click Log In.

Step 2. Select Wallet

• Immediately after your log-in, Binance will take you to your dashboard.
• On the right corner of the screen, you can see the Wallet dropdown.
• Just click on it and click Overview.

Step 3

• Click Fiat and Spot
• Once you click the Overview, you can see many options on the left side of the screen.
• There you could see Fiat and Spot; click on it.

Step 4:

• Find Ethereum
• On the Fiat and Spot section, you can see all assets that you’ve bought.
• Find Ethereum on the list and click Withdraw, which is located just the right side of your asset.

Step 5:

• Paste your MetaMask wallet address
• After clicking the Withdraw, the site will show you the Withdraw Crypto window.
• There you can see a few fields; one of them is Address.
• In that Address field, you need to paste your MetaMask wallet address.

To copy the address,

• Go to Metamask extension
• Enter the password to Unlock the wallet
• Copy your wallet address by clicking just above your ETH balance (see the pic below)

Step 6:

• Enter the amount
• After pasting the MetaMask wallet address, the Network field will automatically get updated. In case it is not, select Ethereum (ERC-20).
• After that, in the Withdraw amount field, enter the amount of Ethereum you want to send. Click MAX, if you want to send all Ethereum you hold.

Step 7:

• Click Withdraw
• After filling in the all necessary details, click Withdraw.
• Upon clicking Withdraw, the confirmation pop-up will appear. Check your wallet address and click Continue.
• Remember, if you send your crypto asset to the wrong wallet, that cannot be reversed and you will lose your asset permanently.

Step 8:

• Enter the verification code sent
• Next is security verification.
• Binance will ask you to fill in the e-mail and phone verification code that has been sent.
• Type the verification codes received in your e-mail and phone in the according to fields and click Submit.

After the submission of verification codes, a positive notification will appear.

Step 9:

• Check in the recent withdrawal section
• After the successful submission, you need to wait for the processing.
• Usually, asset will be transferred within 10 minutes.
• You can check your status in the Recent Withdrawals section if you scroll down a bit.

Step 10:

• Check your MetaMask wallet
• Once you see the Completed status in the Recent Withdrawals section, head back to your MetaMask wallet extension and see your wallet balance on the front preview itself.
